Morocco's tourism sector has sustained a hard blow, following the cancellation of the contract binding the government with the American Colony Capital for the development of the coastal Taghazout resort, north of Agadir. This cancellation is the 2nd for the same project and for the same reason: non respect of deadlines. Taghazout Resort is part of the country's Plan Azur, which initially planned to develop 6 coastal resorts and attract up to 10 million visitors by the year 2010. Apart from Taghazout, most of Azur Plan's resorts are facing difficulties and the government has lowered the ambitions of this pan by changing the deadline from 2010 to 2016 and by revising the expected accommodation capacity from 85,000 beds to about 35,000 beds.
